چکیده

In this paper we study a q-analogue of the convolution product on the line in detail. A convolution product on the braided line was defined algebraically by Kempf and Majid. We adapt their definition in order to give an analytic definition for the q-convolution and we study convergence extensively. Since the braided line is commutative as an algebra, all results can be viewed both as results in classical q-analysis and in braided algebra. We define various classes of functions on which the convolution is well-defined and we show that they are algebras under the defined product. One particularly nice family of algebras, a decreasing chain depending on a parameter running through (0, 1], turns out to have 1/2 as the critical parameter value above which the algebras are commutative. Morerover, the commutative algebras in this family are precisely the algebras in which each function is determined by its q-moments. We also treat the relationship between q-convolution and q-Fourier transform. Finally, in the Appendix, we show an equivalence between the existence of an analytic continuation of a function defined on a q-lattice, and the behaviour of its q-derivatives. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification: 33D80, 33D15, 42A85 (primary); 17B37 (secondary).

THE ANALOGUE OF WEIGHTED GROUP ALGEBRA FOR SEMITOPOLOGICAL SEMIGROUPS

In [1,2,3], A. C. Baker and J.W. Baker studied the subspace Ma(S) of the convolution measure algebra M, (S) of a locally compact semigroup. H. Dzinotyiweyi in [5,7] considers an analogous measure space on a large class of C-distinguished topological semigroups containing all completely regular topological semigroups. In this paper, we extend the definitions to study the weighted semigroup ...

Gauss laws in the sense of Bernstein and uniqueness of embedding into convolution semigroups on quantum groups and braided groups

The goal of this paper is to characterise certain probability laws on a class of quantum groups or braided groups that we will call nilpotent. First we introduce a braided analogue of the Heisenberg-Weyl group, which shall serve as standard example. We introduce Gaussian functionals on quantum groups or braided groups as functionals that satisfy an analogue of the Bernstein property, i.e. that ...

Galois Realizations of Classical Groups and the Middle Convolution

Up to date, the middle convolution is the most powerful tool for realizing classical groups as Galois groups over Q(t). We study the middle convolution of local systems on the punctured affine line in the setting of singular cohomology and in the setting of étale cohomology. We derive a formula to compute the topological monodromy of the middle convolution in the general case and use it to dedu...

Convolution and Product Theorem for the Special Affine Fourier Transform

The Special Affine Fourier Transform or the SAFT generalizes a number of well known unitary transformations as well as signal processing and optics related mathematical operations. Unlike the Fourier transform, the SAFT does not work well with the standard convolution operation. Recently, Q. Xiang and K. Y. Qin introduced a new convolution operation that is more suitable for the SAFT and by whi...

Convolution by means of bilinear maps

Given three complex Banach spaces X,Y, Z and u : X × Y → Z a bounded bilinear map. For f(z) = ∑m n=0 xnz n where xn ∈ X and g(z) = ∑k n=0 ynz n where yn ∈ X, we define the u-convolution of f an g as the polynomial given by f ∗u g(z) = ∑min{m,k} n=0 u(xn, yn)z n. It is shown that whenever X and Y veryfies the vector-valued analogue of certain inequalities due to Littlewood and Paley for Hardy sp...
